Nipsey Hussle's family took the stage at the BET Awards to accept an award in the late rapper's honor. Along with the traditional red carpet turning blue in his honor, Nipsey was given the 2019 BET Humanitarian Award, which was presented by T.I. Sunday evening in Los Angeles.
Lauren London and Nipsey's mom, Angelique Smith, were among the family members present. The hip-hop star's two children were also among the group.
The first to speak was Nipsey's grandma, who said, "Everything has been said about my grandson that could be said." She added, "I was so amazed by how much love was out in the world for him that you uplifted me."
Lauren London, who was dressed in all black, briefly addressed the crowd by saying, "I want to thank you guys for all the love and support, and the marathon continues, again." Nipsey's parents were the final two to speak. His mother, Angelique, strongly believes her son's spirit is in a better place now, and proclaimed, "even though our bodies die on this side of eternity, our spirits live, we lift out of this vessel and we continue on."
