"The Lion King" had high hopes of a star studded cast photo after landing some of the biggest names in Hollywood for the Disney reboot ... but apparently the biggest star didn't get the memo.
It was just revealed that Beyoncé actually missed out on the cast pic, and was photoshopped into the photo afterwards by Disney.
The photo in question shows Beyoncé right smack in the middle of her co-stars, including Donald Glover, Seth Rogen, Billy Eichner, Chiwetel Ejiofor, John Oliver, Alfre Woodard, Eric André, Florence Kasumba, Keegan-Michael Key, JD McCrary and Shahadi Wright Joseph.
John Oliver confirmed the hilarious rumor when he was on "The Late Show with Stephen Colbert."
“Chiwetel was sitting in the front and he said, ‘You need to be careful where your foot is,’” he told Colbert.
Oliver added, "I looked down and there was just this piece of tape on the floor with Beyoncé’s name written on it!”
“It was like an electrical reaction. Just the future presence of Beyoncé was so intimidating. If you look at my face in there, I look really intimidated and that’s because what I’m doing is imagining that I am about to be put into a photo with Beyoncé one day, and that was nerve-wracking enough!”
With the preparation Oliver discussed, it seems that producers were aware Bey wouldn't make the shoot, so it's not like she just bailed on everyone.
The star can be seen in other "Lion King" promo photos, and appears to be wearing the same dress they used for the cast pic ... so maybe she was shooting somewhere else for the day.
After the power move, it's clear who's truly the leader of the pack.
