Anyone who doesn’t or hasn’t known or thought that the Grammy’s is biased, is yet to know a concrete fact.

A colleague Olowo Yusuf, made a publication yesterday titled “Nigerian Songs That Could Have Won Grammys “IF” Streams Really Determine Nomination”.

He said,

“The dream of most Nigerian artistes is to get at least a Grammy nomination in their life all through their career. It’s a dream that have been valid since the peak of the legendary Baba Fela, and till date, we hardly have a win from our very own except from Sikiru Adepoju who won the “Global Drum Project” (a new addition to categories) in 2009″.

Grammys is a fraud, that’s why no Nigeria Artiste has won. It’s all politicized. Awards like Grammy’s are nothig to write home about especially when there has to be voting.

If you want to set up an awarding system, start by setting up a panel of experts who will judge and rate the artistes by their performance during the year. Stop playing politics with people talents and hardwork.

After a corrupted grammy win by some artistes, some begin to feel like a god, wielding godly powers and relate with other artistes as if they’ve ultimately made it in life. I’m talking about Burnaboy here..dude is now feeling like a god over others because of ordinary Grammys nomination he might not win.

Some of the most popular musicians of all time have never won Grammy Awards. Katy Perry, Nicki Minaj, and Blake Shelton have several nominations but no Grammys. Rappers Nas, Busta Rhymes, and Tupac all have at least one nomination but zero win.

Grammys Shouldn’t Be Taken Serious Anymore. Besides, Tupac, Bob Marley, Nas, Nicki Minaj, Biggie, Big L, Big Pun, Fela, J.Cole etc has never won a Grammy award but they are still recognized as legends. It has taken the brain and eyes of realisation of many artistes from the things that matters most in music.

If you make good music, keep doing what you do. These awards are popularity contests, not music quality. Pusha T, Nipsey Hussle, Mac Miller all lost to a garbage Cardi B. So disregard the grammys.

In Drake’s voice,

“It’s time to create a new award show that better represents the culture and forget the #Grammys”
